(1.1) CDR at Zurich Design Weeks

How can office chairs, coffee capsules or underwear be part of a circular system?

The “Circular Design Rules” provide the answers. Developed by the Institute of Design Research Vienna IDRV on behalf of the Austrian Ministry for Climate Action, the nine clearly formulated rules for the first time use everyday Swiss products to show how materials, components and services can be designed to close loops.

The exhibition, created in cooperation with Zurich Design Weeks, is an open invitation to all decision-makers, designers and consumers to actively participate in the transformation to a circular economy. The online tool available at cdr.tools provides step-by-step guidance towards a circular product. At the same time, the Circular Design Rules encourage users to reflect on their own everyday experiences. The scorings of the exhibited objects can be called up via QR code and provide insights into how circular thinking can be translated into practice.
