Workshop: Tools for the Design Revolution
29. -30.6.2012, 10 am – 6 pm
A two-day design lab held by IDRV during the MAK exhibition “MADE 4 YOU. Design for Change“, which will provide the spatial and thematic environment for the interdisciplinary d>lab. In the context of design> new strategies. A cooperation between departure and MAK.
For change to come about, a design revolution is necessary after which designers attend to further defining or redefining what exists, that is, radically improving it, rather than designing a steady stream of new variations of products. The design revolution will also topple the current technologically shaped concept of innovation. We hereby begin to disconnect from traditional ideas of products and design; to rely on experiment, on solidarity rather than competition. The social relevance of design shifts to the forefront. Social innovation, being well informed rather than naïve, exchange and networking, openly passing on knowledge resources, and lateral thinking that’s a good basic position for the start.
The Workshop is intended for interested interdisciplinary workers from the design and creative areas, particularly third and fourth year students and young professionals. The number of participants is limited to 20. Please mail your application including a motivational statement (500 v max.) to d-lab@departure.at no later than June 20, 2012. The motivation letter replaces an attendance fee. Workshops are held at the MAK during regular opening hours.
