IDRV was granted funding for Sustainable Design exhibition

Just as we were starting to do some field research on actual (non-)recycling of upholstered furniture at the city’s waste collection places (view our current home page photo), great news arrived: The Institute of Design Research Vienna was granted funding by the ZIT for conceptualizing and running an exhibition bearing the promising working title “Sustainable Design Goes Public!”. Together with the project partner designaustria, the leading representation of Austria’s design scene, and under supervision of an international expert board, the IDRV is going to search for ongoing best practice projects aiming at ecologically and socially sustainable design solutions throughout Vienna. Selected design projects will benefit from scientific support and will be displayed in the course of the exhibition. Additionally, we plan to present insights into the history of Sustainable Design and we have made it our goal to bring some clearness and tangibility to the current jungle of theory models, green certificats and calculation tools in relation to carbon efficient product development. The exhibition will take place at the designforum Wien, located in Vienna’s popular Museumsquartier, in fall 2012.
